Conway Medical Center (CMC) and Coastal Carolina Athletics jointly announced an expansion of their partnership with CMC becoming the official orthopedic and sports medicine provider for all Chanticleers athletic programs.
Under this multi-year agreement, CMC Orthopaedics will provide complete sports medicine coverage for Coastal Carolina’s student-athletes across all varsity sports. This includes on-site medical care, injury prevention programs and surgical services.
“As CCU’s Premier Medical and Innovation Partner, we are excited to deepen our relationship by supporting the health and performance of Coastal Carolina’s exceptional student-athletes,” said Brian Argo, CMC President and CEO. “Our orthopedic and sports medicine team brings decades of experience in treating elite athletes, and we look forward to contributing to the continued success of Chanticleer Athletics.”
The partnership ensures that CCU’s more than 450 student-athletes will have immediate access to board-certified orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists. Conway Medical Center will also provide sideline coverage for home athletic events and collaborate for care on away competitions.
“We are proud to expand our partnership with Conway Medical Center and welcome CMC Orthopaedics as the official orthopedic and sports medicine provider for Chanticleer Athletics," Coastal Carolina Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation, Chance Miller, said. "Their commitment to excellence and personalized care will have a direct and lasting impact on the health, safety and performance of our 450-plus student-athletes. This enhanced partnership reflects our shared dedication to providing a championship-level experience — on and off the field — for every Chanticleer.”
CMC Orthopaedics specializes in minimally invasive procedures, joint replacement and sports-specific injury treatment. The medical team has extensive experience working with collegiate and professional athletes, utilizing the latest techniques in injury prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
“This partnership further strengthens our commitment to the health and wellness of our community,” said Dr. Donovan Johnson, orthopedic surgeon and CMC Medical Director of Sports Medicine. “Supporting CCU’s student-athletes aligns perfectly with our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare to the Grand Strand region.”
The partnership takes effect immediately for the 2025-26 athletic season. |
